Join us this August as we explore the beautiful art of Masked Sri Lankan Dance-Drama!!

Odyssey Theatre is thrilled to announce the premier season of our EXPLORATIONS series of workshops. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to work with internationally renowned choreographer Ravibandhu Vidyapathy and drummer Prasanna Rupatillake.

The INTRODUCTORY WEEK (Aug 17-21) is fun for everyone! Discover archetypal Sri Lankan characters through their physical language, gestures and traditional scenarios. Strengthen your physical confidence by learning a new style of movement and beautiful dance techniques set to percussion scores.

In the ADVANCED WEEK (Aug 24-28) participants will build on techniques from the first week to create a short, original dance/theatrical piece for performance. Become a more confident physical performer by exploring an expanded range of masks and improvisational techniques. We recommend this for participants of week 1, dancers or actors with movement or Asian dance training.

Both Sessions will take place: Mon-Fri; 9:30am to 1pm at Le Groupe Studio, Arts Court. 2 Daly Ave.

Workshop participants have FREE admission to our special evening of Sri Lankan Culture celebrated through video presentation, dance demonstration and traditional food.
