GPS Race Winterlude edition

Every February, Canada's Capital Region is host to Winterlude, North America's greatest winter festival. Three fun-filled weekends of excitement and activity await the whole family! From spectacular ice carvings to an amazing playground made of snow, Winterlude is a great way to take in the best of our Canadian winter.

Skate on the world's longest skating rink - right in the heart of Ottawa! Marvel at the glittering ice sculptures or take in a spectacular fire show. Our mascots, the Ice Hog Family, are waiting for you in Canada’s Capital Region.

Something new this year. The creators of www.OttawaEntertainment.ca and www.Whatsup Ottawa.com bring you GPS race Winterlude Edition 1.0. The Challenging and interactive scavenger hunt takes you on a 3 kilometre skate with 10 challenges along the way.

What is the GPS Race:
GPS Race is a FREE IPhone application that you can play with your friends or beat the clock racing against others in your city. Its part GEO tracking, part scavenger hunt and part multiple choice quiz. Using landmarks, statues, fountains, street signs, posters, historical figures, general knowledge and your Iphone. GPS Races takes you to 10 different GPS pinpoints in a 2-4 KM radius where you will answer 10 multiple choice questions using your surroundings to find the answers.

How do you play?
Go to the Iphone Appstore and search for the “GPS Race” app. Download and install it for free. Make your way to the Rideau Canal in front of the Convention Centre. Launch the app. Click the Free Races button. Click Canada, Ottawa, Winterlude Race 1. The game starts in Map view with your location indicated by a blue dot in real time. Make your way to the first red pinpoint. Tap the red pinpoint and answer the question using your surroundings to find the answer. Answer incorrectly and you will receive a 2 minute penalty. Answer correctly and the pinpoint will turn green indicating a correct response. Make your way to the next red pinpoint and repeat till you answer all 10.

Once done you can submit your score to the online leader board.
