Martha has appeared in numerous festivals around North America and countless humanitarian fundraising events. Her stand-up TV credits include her gala appearances in the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, and her own national comedy specials: COMICS! on the CBC and “Something about Martha” on CTV. She has appeared on CBC’s Madly off in All Directions, Accent on Toronto and is a regular on The Debaters.


Yuk Yuk’s Ottawa and JH5 Promotions are proud to announce. the “Steam Whistle Summer Comedy Competition”. This competition will have categories for professionals and amateurs. Professionals are comics that have been paid to perform at Yuk Yuk’s on the weekend. Amateurs are everyone else, and it may include you! If you have ever thought you were funny, now is the time to give it a try!

To enter you must be available for at least one Wednesday in July, and if y o o you aadvance to semi-finals or finals, you must be available in August. The participants will be chosen through random lottery, drawn live at 8:00 p.m. on June 22 at Yuk Yuk’s Elgin location.

Rarely taking things at face value, even the most ordinary of topics are spun into new directions that only his creatively warped mind could envision. Mike always keeps audiences on their toes by being about as predictable as a car thief whose options are running out. He is the comedic wheelman, taking audiences on a conceptual joyride fueled by an overactive imagination. Along the way, they find humor on every corner, and taboos thrown into a ditch like a drifter with no money for gas.

Velocity Magazine called him, “…funnier than a rubber crucifix.”. The Ottawa Comedy Resource stated, “…Mike tore the room apart with stunningly good, original and smart stuff. He may very well be the best act on the ‘alternative’ circuit…” and “…delivered cleanly without pretense or exaggerated character, he’s just being himself, if it’s rehearsed it doesn’t show.” Sén magazine said, “…Storck had my guts spilling out of my splitting sides…”

Michael has also performed in dramatic productions in Montreal, notably Eric Bogosian’s "Pounding Nails IntoThe Floor With My Forehead", leaving him with a taste for the stage and a month-long migraine. Michael has appeared in television commercials in Quebec and in Ontario, including one made to be shown in Romania, which apparently had consumers there clamoring for the return of the Cold War. Michael is an active comedy writer, and has written jokes for other comics (sometimes without realizing it), and has contributed material to The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.


Michael doesn’t take himself or the rest of you very seriously, and has developed a reputation for clever, off-beat humor, mostly at the expense of others. Michael’s current interests include the jazz trumpet, weaving blankets out of Hershey Bar wrappers for Korean War veterans, and conducting ripsaw classes for the clumsy. Doing professional stand-up comedy for a decade has left Michael with the satisfaction of having brought laughter to dozens of people, two tics, and the belief that the moon is trying to kill him.
